Hi everyone! I'm typing this about an hour after finally arriving home from a week-long vacation with my wife and two kids. We drove from Flagstaff to Long Beach, up to Yosemite, then out to Monterey before coming home through Laughlin. Even though we traveled hundreds of miles and spent dozens of hours on the road, the time went by quickly thanks to podcasts. While I would love to record my own podcast someday, I think I'll use this opportunity to share with the class the material that made all that driving this week enjoyable.
The podcast we chose is called Revisionist History. It's hosted by author Malcolm Gladwell. The episode I want to share is the last one we listened to, which covered the stretch of road between Seligman, AZ, and Flagstaff. It's also tangentially related to the subject of this blog (music) so I think it makes sense.
On its face, this episode's topic is an album of metal covers by Pat Boone, while a deeper theme of the discussion is cultural appropriation. Oh, and Taco Bell!
